Together We Succeed

Post 16 Results 2022

We are delighted with the excellent set of examination results achieved this year which represent our strongest performance. Congratulations to all our wonderful students, it is well deserved.

At The Woodroffe School, we are immensely proud of our students, and we wish them the very best for the future. We continue to offer our full support and assistance to all students in the coming days and weeks, following the release of the A-Level and Level 3 results. These have been unprecedented times and together we succeed.

This has been another challenging year for all students and the ongoing disruption to education has again been most keenly felt by those taking their final exams this summer, the first to do so since 2019.

Our school has a long track record of academic excellence and this year, despite the challenges, is no different. Our students have achieved incredibly well across the full range of A-Level and Level 3 qualifications and will continue to do so within their chosen new destinations.

We are amazed by the resilience and perseverance shown by our students in challenging circumstances. We also recognise the additional anxiety caused by the events of the past three years and thank our parents and carers for their continued support.

Our staff worked incredibly hard to ensure that our students have been cared for and have continued to receive the best education possible. We have ensured that students have been given every chance to succeed and pursue their chosen next steps.

Students should be reassured that the grades they have received today have been fully earned and are the result of their hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
As ever, there were some outstanding individual A-Level performances:

Amy Le Bas achieved 4 A* grades in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths. Amy is taking a gap year to gain some work experience before applying to university. Freddie Caswell achieved 3 A* grades in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. Freddie is also taking a gap year and will apply to study Medicine this year. Freddy Shaw achieved 2 A* and 2 A grades in Maths, Physics, Further Maths and Politics, securing him a place to study Mathematics and Philosophy at the University of St Andrews. Leo Gillies achieved 2 A* grades in Biology and Maths and an A grade in Chemistry. Leo is also applying for Medicine this year. Callum Priestly achieved 2 A* grades in Maths and Further Maths and an A in Physics, securing him a place to study Physics at the University of Southampton. Robert Wolfreys achieved 2 A* grades and an A grade in Drama, English Literature and Religious Studies, respectively. Jasper Melville achieved 2 A* grades in Religious Studies and Music Technology and a B grade in Geography securing him a place to study Sound Technology at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Dulcie Deverell, Molly Hunt, George Jacks, Freya Redfearn, Olivia Whitaker, and Imogen Winter all achieved 1 A* grade and 2 A grades. Isabella McKenzie achieved a D* and 2 A grades. Grace Cawthorn achieved 4 A grades securing her a place to study Mathematics and Philosophy at the University of Bristol. Phoebe Holmes-Simeon achieved 3 A grades and is off to study Classics at the University of Oxford.

It was pleasing to see so many top grades across all subject areas and there were outstanding performances in:

Chemistry, Classical Civilisations, Drama, English Literature, History, Maths, Music, and Physics.

Students also performed highly across our BTEC cohorts with 2 students achieving a Distinction* in Sport, 2 students achieving a Distinction* in Business Studies and 1 student achieving a Distinction* in Travel and Tourism. These include Rosy Shepherd, Phoebe Clarke, Isabella Mckenzie, Isobel Taylor, and Ted Osborne.

A number of students have also been successful in securing excellent apprenticeships in engineering, nursery education and flight training. Students include Stephen Gliddon, Isobel Taylor, Posy Doble and Ted Osborne.

It is also worth noting that a significant number of students who took a gap year were successful in securing university places and they will be starting courses at some of the best universities in the country in September. Some examples include James Turner who is off to Cambridge to study Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic, Roisin Hogarth who is off to King’s College London to study International Relations, Sonny Makepeace who is off to Goldsmiths, University of London to study Media and Communications, Fleur Mitchell who is off to Plymouth Marjon to study Primary Education with QTS and Nate Gillian who is off to study Computing at the University of South Wales.

Students will be leaving Woodroffe to take up places at many of the top universities in the country. We wish them well and are confident that they are on course to succeed at degree level and beyond.

We are delighted that the school year ended positively and that students were able to experience some of the key moments in their ongoing development, it was fantastic to see them enjoying time together at prom and seeing them celebrate their success today.
