Rough Notes

Hello and welcome to our November Rough Notes Roundup including Rough Notes Express!

It’s a shorter, faster version of our usual newsletter, packed with the same great stories, updates, and highlights you already enjoy.

We know everyone likes to read in different ways, so Rough Notes Extra gives you the choice between in-depth articles when you want all the details, or quick reads when you’re short on time. You’ll still get all the important news, just in a simpler, snappier format.

November has been busy and full of energy, even as the days have grown darker. Students returned from the half-term break ready to learn, and we’ve seen great enthusiasm in lessons, clubs, and special events. One highlight has been the opening of our new Communication and Interaction Hub, a calm space that helps students build confidence, friendships, and important communication skills. Early feedback has been wonderful, and we were proud to celebrate the launch with local guests and partners who supported the project.

We have also enjoyed hosting Years 5 and 6 from Mrs Ethelston’s while their school building was being repaired. Both their pupils and ours showed kindness, patience, and great teamwork. The children have now returned to their own school, and we wish Year 6 the very best for their SATs. Elsewhere in school, students have taken part in many exciting opportunities, including Lottie joining the British TaeKwonDo Performance Squad, Year 9 visiting the Bristol Old Vic, and the launch of Year 10 work experience. We were also pleased to welcome Little Green Change for Green Careers Week and to see strong attendance at our Year 8 and Year 13 progress evenings.

Other memorable moments this month include the Year 11 visit to Hartridge Buddhist Monastery, the fantastic Year 7 Meet My Tutor event, and our Year 13 environmental scientists touring Hinkley Point. Thank you for your continued support. To keep up with our latest news, please visit our website or follow us on Twitter and Instagram.

Best wishes,
Dan Watts, Headteacher
