Welcome to the first edition of Rough Notes for the 2026–27 academic year. It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back and see our school full of energy, ambition and enthusiasm. A new school year brings fresh opportunities for every student, whether they are starting at Woodroffe, preparing for important exams or looking ahead to life beyond school. We are proud of the way our students show resilience, work hard and embrace new challenges.

We are also delighted to celebrate another year of outstanding examination results. Our GCSE students once again topped the Dorset results, making Woodroffe the county’s top-performing secondary school. Our Sixth Form students also achieved excellent results, placing us close to the top 25% of sixth-form centres nationally. Three Year 9 students, Sia, Jadie and Rafi, achieved the highest possible grade of 9 in GCSE German, two years early. Year 11 student Ellie also enjoyed an incredible summer, winning two gold medals at the School Games as part of the Great Britain triathlon competition.

There is much more to celebrate beyond the classroom. Students can take part in more than 70 extracurricular activities each week, alongside a wide range of educational visits and other opportunities. These experiences are an important part of our commitment to developing the whole child and preparing students for life beyond school. We look forward to another exciting year of learning, achievement and opportunity, and to sharing many more stories of Woodroffe students making the most of every opportunity.
