Rough Notes - September 2026

Welcome to the first edition of Rough Notes for the 2026–27 academic year. It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back and see our school full of energy, ambition and enthusiasm. A new school year brings fresh opportunities for every student, whether they are starting at Woodroffe, preparing for important exams or looking ahead to life beyond school. We are proud of the way our students show resilience, work hard and embrace new challenges.

We are also delighted to celebrate another year of outstanding examination results. Our GCSE students once again topped the Dorset results, making Woodroffe the county’s top-performing secondary school.

We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate another year of exceptional examination results at The Woodroffe School. Our warmest congratulations go to all our students, whose achievements are a testament to their dedication, determination, and hard work throughout their studies. They should be enormously proud of everything they have accomplished, and we wish them every success and happiness as they embark on the next stage of their journey.

The Woodroffe School has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence, and this year’s results once again demonstrate that ‘Woodroffe students do better’. We are delighted that 74% of our students achieved at least a grade 4 in both English and Maths, while an impressive 53% secured a grade 5 or above in both subjects. These outstanding outcomes place us significantly above national averages in key measures and reflect the high aspirations and achievements of our students.

As we bring another remarkable school year to a close, this edition of Rough Notes provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the many achievements, experiences and successes that have shaped our journey since September. Looking back over the year, we do so with an enormous sense of pride in all that our students and staff have accomplished, both inside and beyond the classroom.

Throughout the year, our students have demonstrated outstanding effort, determination and resilience. Academic success has been matched by a willingness to embrace new challenges, seize opportunities and support one another along the way.
