Rough Notes

Hello and welcome to our October Rough Notes Roundup!

This month, we’re excited to introduce something new – a choice between the regular, unabridged Rough Notes and all new Rough Notes Express! It’s a briefer, easier to read version of our usual newsletter, packed with the same great stories, updates, and highlights you already enjoy.

We know everyone likes to read in different ways, so Rough Notes Express gives you the choice between in-depth articles when you want all the details, or quick reads when you’re short on time. You’ll still get all the important news, just in a simpler, snappier format.

We hope you’ll enjoy this new option and let us know what you think. Whether you prefer the full-length edition or the speedy version, you can now read Rough Notes your way – the best of both worlds!

It’s been a fantastic start to the 2025–2026 school year. The first half-term has been full of energy, teamwork, and exciting opportunities. Our students have settled in brilliantly, with Years 11 and 13 showing great focus as they prepare for exams.

There’s been so much to celebrate. Students have achieved success in national sports events, supported Show Racism the Red Card, and helped run the popular Years 7 and 8 disco. Year 11s took part in special revision sessions, and younger students enjoyed meeting author Emma Carroll. We also welcomed pupils from Mrs Ethelston’s School, who have settled in wonderfully and added to our vibrant community.

As always, we are proud of how our students represent Woodroffe — through kindness, hard work, and enthusiasm in everything they do. Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you enjoy this edition of Rough Notes. For more news and updates, visit our website or follow us on Twitter and Instagram. Please choose your version of Rough Notes below!
